Tail Wags - kind notes from our clients.
James and Nancy,
Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Rio when "He" goes
on vacation! He gets SO EXCITED when we pull in your driveway that he
can't contain himself! We know that Rio is in such great hands when
he does "slumber parties" at the Smiths' Lodge! Sometimes his time
away is better than ours!!! It is so nice to know that he is in
trusting hands and he is safe and has a wonderful time with all his "friends". It is truly a blessing that we found you and you do what
you do for the love of dogs! It really shows where your hearts are!
Again, thanks for all you do and the love you give to so many family "kids"!
I know Rio has a BLAST!!

Hi James & Nancy!
We just wanted to thank you for providing such a wonderful atmosphere, great supervision and so much love for our English Lab - Duke. I swear he knows the days he is coming for day care even before we get into the vehicle. By the time we turn in your driveway he is up and alert. He sees "Mr. Jim" and it is all over - he flies to great him and then quivers in anticipation at the door into the yard. Dogs don't fake that kind of excitment!
He comes home happy (a big smile on his face is proof enough) and pooped - eats dinner and crashes for the rest of the evening. I love the fact he gets to play all day with other dogs in an OUTSIDE environment. We tried some indoor facilities which proved to be unsatisfactory. We want him to keep his socialization skills as he is our only dog.
The environment at "Smith's" is just perfect - we are so grateful to have found you!!

Hi Nancy & James: Thanks for taking such good care of Whisper! He really loves coming there and we were very glad to hear he was a good boy for you! He is sacked out on his bed in the living room, pretty happy!

The Smiths Lodge is Biscuit's favorite second home. Since our family travels often it was very important to know that our dog Biscuit had a wonderful, safe, fun, friendly place to stay while we were away. James and Nancy are big dog lovers and it shows!! Thank you for always taking such great care of Biscuit.

We tried a couple other doggie daycares when we moved to Colorado Springs and never felt very comfortable leaving our three dogs for the day and really didn’t like leaving them overnight. Also, most of the daycares in the area are indoor facilities and that’s just not enough exercise for our dogs. We were so relieved when we found the Smiths! We know who’s caring for our dogs (it’s always James or Nancy) and trust them. At the Smiths, the dogs have acres of fenced “yard” so they really get to run and play. One of our dogs, George, is very shy and takes a while to warm up to new people and places. James and Nancy were very patient with George and it didn't take him long at all to relax and feel at ease. Now he gets so excited when we start getting close to the Smiths and runs to greet James in the morning! We don’t worry about the dogs at all when they’re at the Smiths because we know they are being well cared for. The best part is that all three dogs come home exhausted from a full day of play and socialization! ….-.Jenn & Rob B.
Dan & I feel so good about leaving our bassets in your care. James recognizes the needs of each one, in particular our little Miss Nocturne, who he let sleep on the couch with the tv on one day during our recent trip to the Tetons. She was able to keep to her routine that she enjoys at home. We know they are well cared for and we enjoy knowing they get out for runs with the pack. It is such a healthy environment for our dogs and we can relax knowing they receive individual attention. So much better than having them confined to a kennel run. Your home is our bassets' second home. - Kathleen & Dan K.
The Smith's home is my dogs second home. They are cared for as I would care for them. It is a great feeling to know that if the dogs get sick, it is quickly recognized and action taken. I have previously boarded them at other kennels where the dogs came back sick and the staff didn't seem to realize they were sick. I highly recommend the Smith Dog Lodge.

Belle, loves each day she can spend at Smith’s Dog Lodge. She begins urging us out the door the mornings she senses it’s her day to go. By the time we cross the railroad tracks near their home she is ecstatic! She’s shaking with delight by the time we hit the driveway! The Smiths Dog Lodge is a great place for her to get the exercise she needs. And, more importantly, has given her socialization skills with other dogs of all ages and sizes….and cats! Belle’s love for the Dog Lodge began about a year ago when we needed to board her for 2 weeks. Being new dog owners we were very nervous about leaving her for such a long period of time. You can imagine our excitement to find out about the Smith’s Dog Lodge. They came highly recommended by our vet and after meeting them and seeing the great set up they have for the dogs, we took the plunge and left her for two weeks. We actually drove out the driveway knowing she was in great hands and would probably have more fun than we would! She was so well cared for and had so much fun she has been going for daily socialization and exercise a few days a week since that first trip. She has stayed many additional extended stays when needed. James and Nancy are professionals. They treat each dog like a family member. Overall, we would recommend Smith’s Dog Lodge to anyone looking for a place where his or her dog needs a place to stay, socialize, exercise or just have fun. For Belle, the Dog Lodge is like a second home.

The Smith’s is Kiki’s home away from home. It’s comforting to know that she is happy and safe when we she is there.

We absolutely love the care our labradoodle, Frankie, receives when he goes to the Smith's Dog lodge. He spends most of his time out of kennel playing on their 15 acres with other dogs his approximate size. He only goes to his crate for naps and bedtime. He sleeps for two days when he gets home! The other thing that is especially heartwarming is that when we take Frankie there, he gets so excited! He is happy. We know that when we leave on a trip for anywhere from 3 to 20 days, we NEVER have to worry about Frankie. WE know he is on vacation as well. Another bonus is that the hosts of this wonderful vacation Nancy and James tell us stories of what Frankie did while we were gone. For instance, one night they had a movie night with the smaller dogs. My dog loves to watch TV that features other dogs- it's hysterical! They also have taken pictures of our dog while we were gone showing the good times he has had. Their house is spotless as well. I have only been turned away once when we tried to board Frankie over spring break and I did not call early enough. We have him staying with friends because no other dog kenneling place would leave us with the peace we enjoy when we leave Frankie with the Smith's. When they call their place a lodge- they mean lodge! We have tried other places before we found them only to pick up a scared, sometimes even hurt or sick dog. If you truly love your dog, there is no other choice but to bring him/her to the Smith's dog LODGE.

Hi, my name is Annie. My mom and dad take me to visit Nancy and James whenever they go out of town. I love to go to Smith's Dog Lodge! They love me and take great care of me. I've made some great dog friends there, too! It's almost like being at home!
We board all three of our dogs at the Smith Dog Lodge. The dogs love going and we love the peace of mind that they are happy while we are gone. They get lots of exercise and love while they stay at the Smith home. We have used several boarding facilities in our area and The Smith's Dog Lodge is our first choice.

Our Springer Spaniel, Murphy is always happy when he sees me turning into the Smith's driveway. He knows it's Playtime! James and Nancy take great care of Murphy. We are very pleased with the professional care provided Murphy by the Smith's; they truly put their hearts into their business. We especially like the fact that Murphy can run around their property and get his exercise with his other animal friends.

Ever since we found the Smiths', we haven't brought our dog anywhere else. Having a nervous dog, I feel relieved knowing that he is in a caring home environment and is as comfortable as possible. He is usually very tired out from all the running and playing with other dogs when he comes home. The Smiths' have been so kind to us and very professional as well. I have and will continue to recommend them to my friends.
-Sincerely, Carol B.
